Description
The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (1989) is the document of reference for all IDE activities. The document gave recognition to the child as an integral person, rights-bearer, and implies substantial changes in the practices of professionals. The IDE's mission is to achieve real implementation of children's rights on the ground, together with more respectful changes in child-care practices. The IDE's experience of many years and the many requests it receives are proof that the challenge is great, but that discernible improvement of the systems is possible, if it is supported by political will and technical training.
